This is exactly the trust buildup and will always be held above online relationship. Online trust is high for well known companies and corporates, however, warmth and understanding increases when people meet and discuss things face to face.

Will it be good to provide extra service (for free) without notifying the client?
I think they should be notified of all the works being done… be it paid or free .. as if later on they find something wrong or something that was not wanted by client, he may hold us responsible for it as well.

This article is so true. I have found numerous times people being charged WAY to much for not only hosting but many other services through greedy middle men who make a point of bumping up profits by 50-70%.
